How to Make the Most out of your New Year’s Resolutions

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

It’s that time of the year again when we choose certain goals and try to better ourselves for the year. However, like most people, we tend to fall short of our goals no matter how small they are. Most of these resolutions are not hard to enforce in our daily routine. The hard part is creating new habits and staying organized. In this article, I will share my tips and tricks on how to stay organized and efficient for this new year!

  1. Understand Your Psychology

Understanding psychology and how the brain works is the most important thing  to implementing a new habit into your routine. For example, it takes about two-four weeks to form a habit. Keeping in mind that this number changes from person to person, you should understand your psychology to build the most long-lasting habits that you can.

  1. Start Journaling

While journaling may seem like a boring activity, it can be a fun way to organize your thoughts and keep track of what went well during that day or even over the span of the week. Journaling can also keep you feeling accountable for your actions, since you would want to write about yourself and your actions in the highest esteem possible.

  1. Utilize Planners

Planners are something that most people overlook, as it can be difficult to plan ahead. However, being able to plan your tasks in terms of what you want to accomplish for the week can help you organize how and when you want to accomplish your goals. It’s also important to have visual reminders of your goals, so that you won’t brush them off.

Overall, it is important to take steps to continue working towards your goals. When making the change to better yourself, you must always take steps outside your comfort zone and make visual reminders of your accomplishments. Never be afraid to fail when you’re on the road to bettering yourself!
