  1. IV of Spades

Four of spades is a Filipino rock band that formed back in 2014. They create songs in Tagalog and in English, for all listeners to enjoy. Their music has a lively and unique vibe, and the songs have a faster paced tempo that reminds me of most rock music in America. If you listen to indie or rock artists, Four of Spades is a good addition to your playlist.

  1. Up Dharma Down

Like Four of Spades, Up Dharma Down is also an indie rock band. This group has a female lead, Armi Millare, who plays keyboard for the band. Moreover, Up Dharma Down produced a song, Paagi, for the new animated show Trese, on Netflix in 2021. The best way to describe this band is heartfelt and intoxicating. If you listen to bedroom pop playlists on spotify, UDD would be a good fit for you!

  1. Charmed

If pop music is your thing, this girl group will be a well suited fit for your playlist. Charmed is a P-Pop group that has an up-beat, enthusiastic feeling. Their music is a perfect fit for a late night dance session in your bedroom, or for blaring in your car this summer. If you like Rina Sawayama, her music is somewhat similar to a few of this group’s songs. Though their only song on Spotify is Kidlat, this song will be key for a perfect summer playlist!

  1. Moonstar88

Surprise surprise! Moonstar88 is another Filipino rock band. Like UDD, this band also has a female lead. If you liked any of the rock bands I listed above, you’re going to enjoy this group as well. This is probably the oldest band I have listed so far. Moonstar88 formed in 1999, while the majority of the other bands came together in the 2000s. UDD has a similar gentleness to Moonstar88, as both lead vocalists have a kind and endearing voice, making their music great for relaxing at night.

  1. Angeline Quinto

An amazing vocalist, Angeline Quinto will wisp you away with her dreamy voice and her sheer vocal strength. Quinto sings mostly pop music, but she also multitasks as an actress, and was a part of a vocal group. Classic, emotional, and grandiose would be three words to describe the feel of her songs. Her music is a real tear jerker, and will have you blowing through a box of tissues at 3 a.m.  She is not your average pop artist. If you are in your feels, add her music to your playlist!
