As a freshman at Michigan State, I didn’t know what to expect going into finals week, and honestly, it scared me. I went to a very chill high school where tests and finals weren’t really a thing. So now, being in college, it was a whole new ball game. As the weeks started approaching, my professor announced that we would have a final the week before finals week. Most students were not happy about this news. It just meant an earlier test along with homework and other classes. To me, this meant I got to go home a week earlier.
I only had two finals this semester that were tests. Then one that was a presentation. One of those finals was online and the other one was in person a week before finals week. So what is the big difference between having a final before final week? Well, it’s just so much more to balance along with course work because most of the time professors are still giving one more assignment up to finals week. So balancing that and studying can be a lot and very hard to do. During finals week, there are no more classes so there is a lot of time to be able to study for your final, which is so nice when balancing school work.
So even though this semester I had finals before finals week, I can’t say that I am super upset about it. Even though the day after taking two finals I was laying in bed contemplating my life. It was better than being stuck on campus for another week with only one final that is earlier on in the week. So all the pain and the stress will hopefully be worth it once they put in the final grades for this semester.
