Fall Accessories for any College Fashionista!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.
  1. Booties: The highly popular bootie is back this Fall!  The bootie is one shoe trend that most likely won’t go out of style any time soon, which is why designers and clothing companies are reinventing it with different styles and materials.  For fall, buy a bootie in a hot jewel toned faux suede, with metallic or fringe accents or a cool embellished fabric.  Mix up the style of heel, go flat, wedge or stiletto, the choice is yours!  Here are some of my favorite choices for the girl on a budget this season:

This suedette wedge bootie can be found in black or brown at our favorite discount store, Forever 21.  $27.80

These brown tweed booties are made by Blowfish and can be found at online contemporary clothing site Alloy.  This style is great for trekking to class or a night out at the bar! $69.90

These flat, mid-calf booties have a little bit of edge to them with a studded outline around the outside of the boot.  They are great for casual nights out or some leggings and a white T!  They can be found online at GoJane.  $30.80

2. Statement Necklaces: When the Fall 2011 runways debuted last year one thing that stood out was many designers’ use of bold necklaces to capture one’s eye to the neck.  Mixed metals, colors and styles make the possibilities of adding this fun accessary to your everyday look endless.  Here are some that caught my eye:

The Desert Rose Necklace from JewelMint.com is not only pretty and stylish, but with all the different ways you can wrap this necklace, the possibilities are endless!   Also, if the price isn’t incentive enough, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month JewelMint is donating %15 of the retail price of this necklace to the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Program! $29.99 + free shipping

This tribal bead necklace made by *The Extras is flirty and fun.  This necklace can bring any average daytime outfit into the night.  It can be found at Karmaloop.com and is now on sale for 50% off its regular price!  $24.95

Available at Forever21.com, this feathered fringe necklace is perfect for the adventurous fashionista.  Coral and turquoise colored beads mix with gold and off-white colored feathers for a perfect mix of materials, although the best part is the price! $6.80

3. Structured and Fur Purses: Structured purses add the right amount seriousness and vintage flair to any day or night outfit.  Add some faux fur to your usual bag style and suddenly your outfit and day turns that much more exciting.  Clutches, satchels and cross-body purses, any type you like, they can bring an average outfit to a whole other level, one where all the girls will be asking you where you got your stylish purse from!

This small leopard cross-body purse is just the right bag to add some playfulness to any night out, whether it is a low-key karaoke night or a Latin dance club.  Made by Lovers + Friends, this purse can be found at Karmaloop. $45.

This structured faux leather bag is functional in so many ways!  It can be easily carried around by the small handle on top or slung over your body for any busy day on the go.  The Top Handle Pebble Handbag by Mossimo can be found at Target now on sale. $10.48.

This clutch might look like the average, not so exciting shape of every other clutch, but the bright red splatter paint and gold accent really makes it a purse any girl would gladly parade around in.  Found in famous Columbian fashion designer Silvia Tcherassi’s discount accessory and shoe line at Payless. $34.99.

4. Solid Metal Cuff Bracelets and Bangles: Clean, simple, minimalistic, and modernist can all be used to describe this widely used trend.  All types of metals, gold, silver, copper and bronze make this simple accessory edgy and can round out your overall look with a strong statement.  Here are some of my favorites that won’t break the bank!

This gold leaf cuff from trendy clothing store Delia’s can uplift any drab outfits spirits.  Pair it with a matching leaf ring, also found at Delia’s, and you’re ready for whatever the days going to throw at you.  Cheaper than dinner some days you can purchase this bracelet for next to nothing. $9.50.

This silver, textured cuff makes a big statement around your wrist.  Pair with stud earrings for a subtler look during the day or with funky feather earrings for night.  Found at your fav discount shoe store, Payless. $9.99
