Budget Friendly Valentine’s Day Date Ideas at MSU

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

If there’s one thing more stressful than getting weighed at the doctor’s office, it’s trying to come up with cute ways to spend Valentine’s Day with your S.O. on a college budget. Here are some date ideas to spend with your love on campus without breaking your bank.

Feed the “wildlife.”

With the majority of the animals on campus being fairly domesticated, nothing is more heartwarming than hand feeding the ducks by Wells Hall to the melody of their sweet little peeps. The squirrels can also be found everywhere at MSU, and if you’re lucky, they’ll even eat out of your hand.

You know you want to.

Make dinner for your S.O.

College is demanding and stressful. When you’re constantly racing against deadlines, there’s no time for anything other than a quick wrap at the caf or some frozen pizza rolls. Take the time to prepare a meal for your loved one. If you live in the dorms, there’s normally at least one community kitchen located in each neighborhood.

Visit landmarks around campus.

Sometimes we get so caught up that we forget to appreciate the beauty MSU has to offer. Go to the Outdoor 4-H Children’s Garden, and jump on the musical steps. Watch the sun set on the top of Ramp 5, behind the Communication Arts & Sciences building.

Go to the Valentine’s hockey game on Saturday.

If you’re an A-Team season ticket holder for MSU hockey, you can bring a plus-one to the game on Saturday, Feb. 13 against Penn State.
