Yes, last weekend marked the official beginning of autumn (Sunday the 22nd at 4:44 pm to be exact), but it meant much more than just a change in seasons.

Just like the styles on the runways, makeup trends change with the times. So while you’re out updating your wardrobe for fall, you may want to take a moment to check out how you can take the smoky eye trend off the fashion week runway and straight to your lids.

The smokey eye has been around forever, but many still treat this makeup trend like a precious pair of heels–only to be pulled out and worn on special occasions. It’s more versatile than that, however, as it can be worn during the day for work and school but also to go out on the town.  

No matter what, one thing is true. Mastering the smokey eye takes practice, patience and some good tools with basic instruction.

Of course, there are countless web tutorials on how to do the smokey eye trend, so feel free to explore and try different ones, but pay attention to the products and tools being used in these videos. Most of the time, using your fingers or a q-tip with the products will not give you the desired look.
