1.     Are there any aspects of life before the pandemic that you currently miss?

Firstly, I miss being on campus. Campus is the place and location where I really feel like a college student and where I get an enriching experience. Secondly, I miss being in class with my classmates. Although I am not someone who interacts too much with others and is more introverted, yet I miss the idea of being together with our professors. Moreover, I miss going out regularly to eat. Even though some restaurants have reopened to a certain capacity, it is always better to be safe than sorry!

2.     How do you think this past year has strengthened you and in what ways?

The year, 2020, has strengthened me in terms of facing challenges through my journey. Being an international student, I had to rush home on the last flight at the drop of a hat before the world began locking down in March when the pandemic was declared. Seven months into my adulthood, the experience demonstrated how some moments in adulthood can be when decisions have to be made swiftly and in no time. It even showed me how I need to consider not only my safety but also the safety of those around me, such as my family. Moreover, completing the semester and the fall semester remotely had its challenges, such as accessibility of class materials and battling with different time zones. Nevertheless, these taught me the importance of appreciating and valuing what I have and how I can make the most of what I have and not what I need. Navigating different time zones has helped me become more flexible in my schedule and given me the opportunity to help me develop my ability to face unexpected changes in plans.

3.     What are some goals that you have for this year?

For this year, my goals are to continue putting in my best in my classes, especially when we continue to study remotely. Secondly, I am exploring internship opportunities and I would like to find an internship for this coming summer that can give me the opportunity to apply my skills and continue growing.

I am an undergraduate student at MSU majoring in Landscape Architecture in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Along with my interest in design and creation, I am also passionate about writing and creation through words and language. Writing allows me to express myself and my perspective of everything that goes on in our daily lives and live the joy of creating meaning through diction and other stylistic features.
