The 4 Netflix Comedies to Help You Survive Spring Break at Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

Friends

With nine seasons of the series, Friends offers a never-ending stream of laughter and excitement. Similar to the characters of How I Met Your Mother and New Girl, this older comedy makes you wonder why you can’t just sit at a coffee shop joking with your friends all day. The three guy and three girl BFF match-up will prove to be hilarious for all viewers, and it truly captures what it’s like to be single in your twenties — adulting is hard.

How I Met Your Mother

After just a few episodes of HIMYM, you’re bound to wish for true love like Marshall and Lily, enthusiasm like Barney, patriotism like Robin and determination to find your soulmate like Ted. The show is narrated through Ted Mosby’s flashbacks as he tells his two kids the story of how he really met their mother, including all of the adventures along the way. These characters are so easy to relate to, you’ll forget whether or not the story lines were created amongst your own friends!

New Girl

Jessica Day’s zany personality, accompanied with her three (sometimes four) male roommates, makes for a great comedy with a mix of romance throughout the show. The show lives through the gang’s daily lives (and love lives), showing what it’s truly like to live with all boys. With only a 20-minute screen time, this show makes for a great light-hearted Netflix binge, similar to that of Friends, with a modern twist.

The Office

While watching this comedy, it’s inevitable that you’ll be able to match each character to one of your very own co-workers. With characters like the all-lovable Jim, hardworking yet lack of social skills Dwight, unconventional manager Michael Scott, and various other oddball characters, you’re sure to be thankful (yet mortified) of your own coworkers. One of the reasons this comedy is so great is because you can truly pick any episode from the series and you won’t miss a beat with the story line!
