1. Potter Park Zoo
Not only does the zoo have plenty of animals, but plenty of fun events as well. From the Zombie Zoo Brew to Pumpkinfest, you’ll never have a shortage of things to do here.
2. Tour the Capitol
Just minutes from MSU’s campus, the Capitol Building is a must-see. In case you don’t remember taking a tour in elementary school, check its schedule and see when you can go again.
3. Lansing Brewing Company
With an outdoor seating area, complete with cornhole and a fireplace, Lansing Brewing Company is a fun, casual place to grab some dinner. Although it’s only been open for a year, it’s quickly become one of Lansing’s most popular spots.
4. MSU Dairy Store
Try saying Sesquicentennial Swirl three times fast. If this proves too hard, go with the Purdue Tracks. You won’t be disappointed!
5. Uncle John’s Cider Mill
Head over to Uncle John’s for a day full of cider, donuts, hayrides and corn mazes. Fall isn’t complete without a trip to the cider mill!
6. Walk Around the MSU Campus
Since we have the most beautiful campus in the country (okay, I’m totally biased here), a walk around MSU is the perfect way to relax.
7. Abrams Planetarium
MSU’s Planetarium hosts public shows every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for only $4 each. They only take cash though, so don’t forget to bring some!
8. Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum
You know, it’s that big spaceship looking thing that sits on the corner of Grand River Avenue and Farm Lane. Free public tours every Saturday and Sunday at 1 and 3 p.m.
9. Golden Harvest
Its funky atmosphere and creative concoctions are known around the country. Though the wait may be long, the breakfast served at Golden Harvest is worth every minute!
10. MSU Sporting Event
Football, basketball, hockey, volleyball – you get the idea. Everyone should experience being in the student section. Grab a friend, and head to a game!
11. Hopcat
Crack fries, crack fries and more crack fries! Ranked in the top 10 of America’s best French fries, Hopcat is the place to be when you’ve got that salty craving. Not to mention, its happy hour deals are hard to beat.
12. Rick’s and Harper’s
You’ll find these bars are a lot more fun than some sweaty frat party. Just keep an eye on your tab before those Long Island’s catch up to you!
13. Ice Skating at Munn Ice Arena
Only $6 for a night of public skating and $2 for a skate rental. Munn has plenty of public skating times during the day and at night.
14. Painting with a Twist
Located in Frandor, Painting with a Twist is always a great idea when you’re looking for something fun to do. Not 21? No worries. Alcohol is available to purchase, but if you’re 18 or older, you can still attend classes.
15. Eastwood Towne Center
With dozens of shops and restaurants, Eastwood is the place to be. Spend a night grabbing a bite to eat (PF Chang’s > Rice Kitchen), shopping and catching a movie at NCG.
16. Lansing Lugnuts Game
Although its season is over now, check back in April for tickets. Cooley Law School Stadium is right downtown, surrounded by plenty of restaurants and bars that you can hit up after the game.
17. Lansing City Market
Found along the Grand River in Lansing, the City Market hosts Lansing-based merchants that sell produce, baked goods, fresh flowers, BBQ and a full-service bar and grill. Do some shopping, grab some dinner (and dessert!) and take a walk around Lansing for the perfect night out.
18. Explore Old Town
Old Town has plenty of places to eat, shop and enjoy. Spend a night exploring this cute creative district!
