15 Fun Fall Date Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

1. Cider mill

My personal favorite spot! Nothing screams “fall” more than a cinnamon sugar donut and cold glass of apple cider. Click here to see a list of the best cider mills in Michigan:

2. Pumpkin patch

Spend your day searching for the perfect pumpkin, and take it home to carve later on. Check out Pinterest for tons of creative carving ideas!

3. Hayride

Sure, you may be surrounded by 6-year-olds and families piling out of mini-vans, but so what! Hayrides are fun at any age. If you can handle being scared, search around your area for a haunted ride.

4. Haunted house

If you’re like me and can’t even handle a scary movie, you might want to skip this idea! See if your significant other can handle the scare or get a group of your closest girlfriends to go. It’s less scary when you’ve got someone’s arm to squeeze! Click here to find one in your area.

5. Halloween movie marathon

Pop some popcorn, make some hot chocolate, and grab plenty of blankets to cover your eyes with! Go here for a list of some of the best Halloween movies.

6. Baking day

Get your apron on and spend the day together in the kitchen! What’s better than sweets with your sweetie? Not to mention, your house will smell yummy all day!

Check out some of my favorite recipes:

Pumpkin streusel muffins

Apple crisp

Candy corn cookies

7. Corn maze

Lots of pumpkin patches have corn mazes as well, so grab your cutie and spend the day getting lost in one.

8. Football game

Tailgating can be so much fun, and you can check out local teams in your city for cheaper tickets.

9. Bonfire with s’mores

Ever had a Reese’s s’more? It’ll change your life. Have a backyard bonfire, and see who can toast that perfectly golden marshmallow.

10. Hike to see fall colors

Better yet, hike the same spot week after week to see the colors change. Even if you can’t find a scenic spot, just grab a jean jacket and head out for a walk around campus.

11. Find a harvest festival

If you can find a nearby harvest festival, you can enjoy a day full of food, contests, prizes and more.

12. Apple picking

Find an orchard, and spend the day picking apples. If you’re a pro in the kitchen, you can use them to make an apple pie after.

13. Make caramel apples

Take the extra apples you picked and turn them into caramel apples. Try fun toppings like chocolate chips, nuts or sprinkles!

14. Picnic in the park

Pack up a picnic basket, and find a nice park to relax and have lunch. Go here for some fun picnic tips.

15. Blankets and stargazing

Nothing beats those crisp fall nights, so why not spend them outside? Grab a blanket and spend the night stargazing.
