Name:  Christine Collado

Year: Senior

Major: Communications/Concentration in Public Relations

Hometown:  Perth Amboy/Edison, NJ

Collegiettes, meet Christine Collado! Christine is currently a senior at Montclair State University and a Communications major with a concentration in Public Relations.  Some of you may have seen Christine around campus because she is always changing her hair color to something cool and fun! “My hair changes color every month, from purple to pink to green it’s all been done”. Christine used to work for the residence halls as a service assistant, so you may have seen her behind a front desk also!

When Christine was asked why she chose to be a Communications major, Christine tells HC Montclair, “I like talking to people and convincing people to like what I like or take interest in things I feel they should open their minds to. Also, I thought it would give good traveling opportunities. I am still figuring things out of course”. Christine just finished an internship at NBC Universal with a TV show called New York Live. Christine tells us what her responsibilities were, “I would help the onset director, getting whatever props or scripts ready, making sure the guest on the show were comfortable and the mic was ready for the show. It was super cool because I always got to meet celebrities”. Christine tells us about the time that she met Chilli and T-Boz from TLC. “One time Chilli from TLC complimented my hair so of course I died inside”. How cool is that?

When Christine isn’t working or meeting celebrities, she likes to keep it simple in her spare time. “I’m very simple. I appreciate just watching movies alone all day, eating my life away, playing with my dog, singing, dancing, hanging out with friends, taking long random drives, and traveling”. Needless to say, Christine is always moving around. Christine has been performing since she was little; she always loved being on stage and in front of a crowd. Christine has been singing and dancing since was a kid and she was also involved in musical theater. Being that Christine sings, she tells HC Montclair about different genres that she likes. “I truly don’t have a favorite [genre]. It really depends on my mood. One minute I can be listening to super 90’s like OG rappers to today’s “pop hits” to random 80s house music to house music now to R&B to Bachata and Salsa to folk music to rock. I’m really open to anything that is good. Country is a bit hard for me but I’m finding some things I like. I tend to stay in the past, so I’m usually playing more old things than new”. Christine also tells us one of her talents, she says, “I can lick my elbow, if that even counts”.

Christine has a great future ahead of her. We asked Christine about her dreams and what she plans to do after college and she tells us, “[My] dream would be to perform and maybe have some sort of entrepreneurial work on the side, like a dance studio or bakery, but maybe just working with celebs and artists and getting their work and passion out there.  The next step after college would be to move to California because I mean that’s where everyone goes to be famous right?” Christine also knows that Public Relations opportunities are endless in California. Christine plans to achieve her goals by performing as much as she can, writing more of her own songs, putting more videos up on YouTube, and networking as much as she can. She knows that her dream of moving out to California will require a lot of saving and she tells HC Montclair that she is starting that process right now.  Christine feels that the people that are very close to her supports her in whatever she does. “I started [at Montclair State University] as a Chemistry major and came a long way from that and it took a lot of courage to change and start doing the things I wanted to do. The help of my parents, cousins, boyfriend, and close friends really helped”.

Collegiettes, keep an eye out Christine! She’s going to make it big one day!
