Keeping Your Mental Health In Check

In life, you never know what people are going through. Your friends or loved ones might be going through a rough time in their life but want to do anything other than talk about it with you and just pretend as if everything is okay. You might hang out with your best friend and she was the happiest, and most positive she’s been in a while. But the truth is, you never know what someone else is going through. An extremely happy person, such as your best friend, can be the one that is going through one of the roughest times in their life but refuses to talk about it with you. Either they feel as if you might not understand, want to just focus on the present and not what has been going on with her behind closed doors or simply just rather keep it to herself for many reasons. She may not like showing others that she is going through a rough time and rather mask her feelings with a smile. While that is not okay and unhealthy, it happens more often nowadays with people all around the world. I want to be that voice to help at least that one person who is struggling with their mental health behind closed doors. So if you are someone or know someone who is going through a rough time right now there are several things you can do to help yourself or them.

3 Self Help Books I Recommend

You Are A Badass By Jen Sincero

You Are A Badass is one of those books that changes your mindset about life and how you will live your life. Sincero helps her readers become self aware and figure out what they want in life. She persuades her readers to not worry about other people's opinions and rather focus on their life on the thing they know that will make them happy. If you are planning to start reading self-help books, definitely buy this one first!

The Power of Now By Eckhart Tolle

The Power of Now is a book that is intended to be a guide for your day-to-day living. Tolle focuses on helping his readers to stress on the importance of living in the present moment and overpass those thoughts about the past or future. Another book that will also change your mindset for the better.

When Things Fall Apart By Pema Chödrön

When Things Fall Apart is one of those books that gives you solid advice when things are rough in your life. It helps you in dealing with those rough times in life where nothing really seems to be going your way. The advice that Chödrön provides is the type of advice you will carry and you won’t even notice that it ended up leaving a mark for the better.

Journaling

If you enjoy writing this tip is for you! Journaling is one of the best ways to improve your mental health. When you are in a moment where so many thoughts are running through your mind you tend to simply just lose it and either want to break down or give an attitude to the people around you. Journaling is what you need to do when you are going through a moment like this. Instead of just lashing out on your loved ones or locking yourself up in the bathroom crying, you can grab your journal and pen. You can write all your emotions down, every single thing you are feeling. Trust me, whenever you finish writing every single little thing you are feeling it will make you feel so much better. Your chest will finally feel light again and reduces so much stress from the thoughts you were previously having. Once you feel this way, you know you've just done your job. You are finally at peace again. Even if you don’t like writing, don’t ever say no until you try it!

I hope some of these tips that I have provided you with will better either your mental health or your loved ones who are struggling at the moment. If you are someone going through rough times right now, just know that you’re not alone. Never go through these times alone, don’t be scared to open up to someone. You’ll feel better after you talk it all out. You are beautiful and worth so much more than you think! Stay positive love! You got this :)
