As the semester comes to a close, we are getting closer to the winter season. This means oversized sweaters, boots, and hot chocolate galore! But, during the winter season, we may find that our skin and hair seems to dry out quicker than usual. Its time to kick the winter blahs aside because there ARE ways to look radiant this winter!

1. Exfoliate. It will help keep your skin looking radiant in the winter. Exfoliating your skin will remove the dead, unwanted skin.

  • HC Montclair suggests: white sugar as a natural exfoliant.

2. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! I cannot stress the importance of this enough. In the cold winter season, our skin turns dry, red, and rough. Luckily, moisturizers with ingredients such as oatmeal or aloe will do the trick! Try to keep a bottle of lotion with you throughout the day to continuously apply.

3. No vacation? No problem! However, that does not mean you have to hit your local tanning salon. You need a product that gradually delivers fabulous, natural looking color that lasts twice as long as other sunless tanners – and most importantly, one that doesn’t streak!

4. Need a change? Start with your hair. Hair color makes a big difference to your appearance. Chestnut brown, black, or a deep red are great winter colors that won’t wash pale skin out in the winter. Also remember, your hair is prone to become dull or break in the wintertime.

5. Look fabulous with makeup! Makeup can enhance your appearance drastically. Winter makeup is always fun to play around with because it can take you from looking pale and dull to stunning and vibrant. Make your eyes speak for themselves; use deep colored eyeliner such as purple, turquoise, or silver. If you are feeling daring, minimize the eye makeup and go straight for the red-hot lip that will grab anyone’s attention. If you want to get that summery glow, use a bronzer or a shade darker foundation. Remember to apply and reapply lip balm to keep your lips from cracking.

6. You are what you eat. Believe it or not, the foods you eat are a big contributor to your appearance. Spinach is chock full of vitamins such as Vitamin A that will help to keep your skin healthy. Berries are also fabulous for healing your skin; they contain juice to hydrate and carry antioxidants that protect your skin.
