5 Naturalistas to Help You with Your Natural Hair Journey

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montclair chapter.

Natural hair care can be a hassle. Making sure it’s always moisturized and keeping an overstock of hair products just so your natural hair can flourish sometimes feels like a full-time job. Those of us who start to embrace their natural locks, usually have no idea how to properly take care of natural hair. Even though natural hair can be a little bit of a challenge, social media naturalistas are always coming to the rescue with pictures, videos, and detailed posts of how they achieve their beautifully tamed curls. If you are someone who wants to embrace their natural hair, but has no idea how to get through the long journey, here are 5 naturalistas to help you with valuable tips that can make your natural curls pop!

1. Jewellianna Palencia (@jewejewebee)

If you like to have big hair with defined curls, JeweJeweBee is the girl that has both of those things and more. JeweJeweBee is a blogger and natural hair enthusiast with the most beautiful curls you’ve ever seen. The great thing about her is that she continually documents her natural hair growth on her social media and gives her followers tips on hair care routines, as well as a few natural hairstyles that are super easy and cute!

2. Joyjah (@joyjah)

This model from Belize is at the top when it comes to hair inspo! Her hair volume and length are literally breathtaking and to make her even more of a hair inspo, she goes step by step when explaining her hair care routines! If you are looking to have waist length curls with beautiful definition, I would definitely give Joyjah a follow and get her to 300k followers since she’s almost there!

3.   Lisette (@luhhsetty)

With over 1 million Youtube subscribers, Luhhsetty is the girl you absolutely need to follow if you are having trouble finding a good hair care routine. She takes viewers step by step during her wash day routines, styling different natural hair looks, and also she keeps her natural curls healthy. She also dabbles in makeup and self-care videos!

4. Aysha Sow (@africanmelaninnn)

Unlike the last three naturalistas, Aysha does not really give her followers tips on her hair care regimens, however, just looking at her pictures on Instagram always inspires me during my natural hair journey. If you appreciate aesthetically pleasing Instagram photos of a melanin queen with beautiful hair, definitely follow Aysha!

5. Ashly Rodriguez (@actually_ashly)

This Boston based YouTuber is hands down my favorite naturalista to follow. Not only because her curls are absolutely beautiful, but because she uses products that are affordable for anyone. Hair care products can cost a pretty penny and as a follower of Ashly, you get her honest critiques of high end and affordable products. She also goes into detail of how the products work on her hair. Anyone who is having trouble with their natural hair journey should follow Ashly, trust me you will not be disappointed. Side note, Ashly also has 2 huskies that she posts on her Instagram every once in a while, so you’re welcome in advance!
