The Top 5 Interior Design Resources You NEED To Follow

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MMM chapter.

Interior decorating has become a newfound hobby of mine. In addition to my usual fashion content, I love watching YouTube videos on home interior styling tips, DIY projects, and interior shopping vlogs. Additionally, I’ve started following a lot more interior-centric accounts on Instagram, adding a lot more inspiration photos to my “Dream Home” Pinterest board, and have even started listening to a podcast discussing all things interior decorating. In light of my recent interiors obsession, today I’m sharing my top 5 favorite sources you have to check out.

Design Time Podcast from Domino Magazine

Domino Magazine is one of the top interior publications, and their Instagram alone is a major source of interior inspiration no matter what your aesthetic is. This summer, the publication launched a podcast! Hosted by the magazine’s Editor In Chief, Jessica Romm Perez, the podcast covers details on interior design while interviewing different individuals currently at the forefront of the industry. Since interior decorating is such a visual field I was surprised to see that Domino was starting a podcast, however, after listening to the first episode it showed not only how great podcasts can be in providing another way for people to consume information on interiors, but also how an interiors-centric series was needed in the podcasting world.

Arvin Olano’s YouTube Channel

During the beginning of quarantine, I started browsing different online stores for affordable home interior items and found Zara’s homeware line. In order to find out more information on the line from people who have actually purchased pieces, naturally I resorted to YouTube and found Arvin Olano’s channel. I loved the way that he showcased the pieces, and how he had videos on other affordable interior stores such as Target’s interior line with Studio McGee and Home Goods. Along with myself, many others discovered Olano’s channel during quarantine, and his YouTube/Instagram following grew significantly in a matter of weeks, which then turned into months. Previously working for Gucci, Olano just started working on his YouTube channel full-time, so we’ll be seeing a lot more of his interior decorating tips and hauls now!

Liz Besanson’s YouTube Channel

If your aesthetic is along the lines of neutral, minimalist, or a touch of Parisian meets Mid-Century Modern, you’re going to love Liz Besanson’s YouTube channel! Her Mid-Century Modern hauls of GoodWill and antique finds are such great inspiration for hunting down chic interior pieces on a budget, and she has an impeccable eye for aesthetics. Additionally, Besanson makes DIY videos of pieces such as vintage-looking vessels that are affordable to make and will give you the look of a vintage piece for a fraction of the price.

1stDibs

1stDibs is a website that not only has great interior inspiration but also sells pieces! With their curation of modern and antique furniture, in addition to offering art, fashion, and jewelry, 1stDibs is bound to have something for your particular interior aesthetic. Along with browsing their website for inspiration, their Instagram has endless photos of dreamy interiors/pieces that will leave you inspired for days.

Kiva Brent’s YouTube Channel

Another YouTuber I found during quarantine, Kiva Brent is best known for her DIY interior projects that replicate pieces from brands such as Restoration Hardware. Brent’s channel, DIY with KB, shows step-by-step tutorials on how to create chic and popular interior decorations for yourself, with the end results always looking exactly like the original piece. In addition to DIY projects, Brent posts homeware hauls and “Shop With Me” videos, bringing her subscribers along for the journey to finding the chicest interior decorations at an affordable price.

Home interiors express one’s personal style through furniture and work to make a space truly unique to the individual. While decorating a room may initially seem like a daunting task that requires a lot of money invested into it, much like with clothing one’s budget does not have to hinder having great style. By utilizing resources such as the five mentioned above, you’ll be provided with infinite amounts of inspiration for how to decorate, where to look for deals, and how to create the chic interiors of your dreams.
