When we were younger it seemed like our parents always had some sort of advice to give us… and lets face it, back then we didn’t believe our parents actually knew more than we did. As we’ve gotten older we have realized that their nonsense may have held some truth afterall…  Here are 21 things our parents told us that we didn’t believe until college:

1.)  “Nothing good happens after 2 A.M.” Although staying up late every once in awhile is great, we have to admit this is pretty much true.2.) “The friends you meet in college will be your friends for life.” YES and YES! This couldn’t be more true.3.) “There’s more to life than being popular.” At fifteen we didn’t think so but now we know better.4.) “The freshman 15 is a real thing” Be forewarned!5.) “That boy isn’t worth your tears.”  He really wasn’t.6.) “If he really likes you then he will respect you”7.)  “Don’t change yourself for anyone.” DUH! Why would we want to change anyway? We are awesome!8.) “It’s okay to be single” Yes! Yes it is.9.) “College will be the best four years of your life” You can say that again!10.) “Drugs and alcohol don’t make you cool.”11.) “Bullies pick on people because they are insecure themselves.”12.) “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Especially during finals week…13.) “Wearing tons of makeup and short skirts doesn’t make you beautiful”14.) “Make them work for it.”15.) “Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free.”16.) “You’ll understand when you’re older.” Yup, we understand now!17.) “There’s no ‘i’ in team.”18.) “In ten years it’s not going to matter how much you paid for those jeans.” The jury is still out on this one… The cutest jeans cost $$$.19.) You can’t live off coffee.” We hate to admit this but it’s true…20.) “People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.”21.)  “It will be okay.” And it was:)
