As the weather has slowly been warming up I have been moving from my hot chocolate bombs to smoothies.

Personally, I am not the biggest fruit person. Individually, certain fruits are great, but together the flavors are super overwhelming. So, I have found some other recipes that I love.

If green smoothies aren’t your favorite, don’t worry. Here are five of my favorite recipes that have replaced my ice cream shakes!

Dark chocolate green superfood smoothie:

  • 1 heaping tablespoon dark chocolate cocoa powder

  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

  • ½ cup vanilla Greek yogurt

  • ½ cup fresh or frozen blueberries

  • 1 banana, peeled and frozen

  • 1 large handful of fresh spinach

  • Ice to taste

Chocolate chip mint:

  • 1-2 frozen Bananas (peel, cut, and freeze overnight – or your smoothie won’t be thick like ice cream!)

  • ½ cup greek yogurt (or coconut yogurt, to keep this dairy-free)

  • Coconut Milk (or any milk you want!)

  • Ice

  • Lots ‘o Spinach

  • Vanilla and Peppermint Extracts to taste

  • Dark Chocolate Chips (or chopped dark chocolate)

Watermelon peach:

  • 3 cups cut-up watermelon

  • 1 ripe peach sliced

  • ½ cup plain coconut milk refrigerated

  • Handful of ice

  • Mint for garnish

Chocolate covered strawberry:

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries

  • 1 large ripe banana, frozen

  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened chocolate almond milk

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • Fresh berries and mini chocolate chips, for garnish

Orange creamsicle:

  • 2 oranges, peeled and chopped

  • 3/4 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 2 cups ice

Plus you can get as creative as you want with any smoothie recipe! Here are some of my favorite add-ins:

  • Chia seeds – a rich source of protein, omega-3s and antioxidants. So, basically the perfect little punch every smoothie needs!

  • Honey – quick sweetener for a bitter smoothie.

  • Oats – not only heart-healthy, but they lower cholesterol, improve digestion and keep blood sugar balanced.

  • Protein powder – for an extra kick before a workout.

Smoothies are so versatile and no matter what ingredients you choose, you cannot go wrong!
