Affordable Olaplex Dupes for Healthy Hair

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

This past summer, I stumbled across @lillyvanbrooklyn on TikTok and was immediately obsessed with her videos. Lilly Van Brooklyn, hair care expert, uses her platform to recommend products that create long, luscious and healthy hair.

If you know anything about hair care, you’d know Olaplex is the gold standard when it comes to transforming damaged hair. Unfortunately, the complete hair care system is about $175. Although I do believe investing in Olaplex is worth it because of its unique bonding formula, there are more affordable and just as effective products out there.

The most important part of any hair care routine is a bond builder. Whether from bleach or the use of heat tools, you’re probably suffering from major breakage. A protein-rich bond builder is a game-changer when it comes to damage-repair for the hair.

No. 3: Elizavecca Collagen Coating Hair Protein Treatment

Just like Olaplex No. 3, Elizavecca Collagen Hair Protein Treatment is a bond builder that strengthens and repairs hair. Put the product onto your damp hair and rinse after five to 20 minutes for softer feeling hair. For half the cost, the Elizavecca treatment achieves the same results.

No. 4: Maui Moisture Shine + Awapuhi moisturizing vegan Shampoo

For about $9, this product works and smells just like Olaplex No. 4. There are a lot of similarities between the ingredients which leads to the same results: soft, shiny and healthy hair.

No. 5: Redken acidic Bonding concentrate Conditioner for Damaged Hair

For a deep conditioning hair mask, Redken’s Bonding Conditioner’s formula is on par with Olaplex’s No. 5 treatment. For just $12, you get a two-in-one formula that softens and repairs. No wonder it’s an Amazon bestseller.

No. 6: Revolution Hair Care Plex 6 Bond Restoring Styling Cream

Revolution Beauty came out with a similar hair care system as Olaplex, labeling their products with numbers three through six. All the products have received star reviews from beauty experts and influencers. For a third of the price, you’re getting almost the exact same results.

No. 7: DERMA-E Styling Repair Hair oil

The look, feel and smell of Olaplex No. 7 and DERMA-E Styling Repair Hair Oil are very similar. Made with all-natural oils and ingredients, the DERMA-E oil is great for hydrating and replenishing your hair.
