F1 FOR THE GIRLIES: LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX

To all my F1 girlies out there—or the girlies who are just now getting into the sport—the Las Vegas Grand Prix did not come to play. The race gave chaos, heartbreak, and plot twists… and honestly, it might have been one of the most dramatic weekends of the season.

Ever since McLaren locked in the Constructor’s Championship, the spotlight has been laser-focused on the real question: Who is taking the Driver’s Championship? It’s been a three-way showdown between the McLaren duo, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, and Red Bull’s, *du du du du* Max Verstappen

The weekend opened with maximum chaos! In Free Practice #2 (FP2), just when teams were starting their qualifying simulations, the session was red-flagged twice after a marshall reported a loose manhole cover at Turn 17. Cars were parked, mechanics scrambled, and everyone wanted to make sure they weren’t racing over a trap. The same spot was later welded overnight when the FIA inspected and re-secured that problematic cover (and 14 others nearby!).

When FP2 did resume, Lando topped the timesheets with a lap of 1:33:602 on soft tires, despite the session being cut short by delays.

Then came qualifying– and yup, it was dramatic!

The rain came in full force, making the track slippery and unpredictable. Lando nailed it, grabbing pole with a time of 1:47.934. Max was second, just +0.323 seconds behind. And Oscar, already feeling the heat, qualified P5 after getting held up and running off track on his final lap.

However, what really sent F1 fans into a meltdown was the post-race plot twist. The initial race results were flipped on their head when both McLaren drivers were disqualified after irregularities were found on their cars. And yes… both cars.

Suddenly, the points tightened in a way no one expected. Our race winner, Max’s haul brought him level with Oscar, shaking up the championship battle just when it felt like things were settling.

But here’s the tea for the everyone following the standings:

With Lando still leading the Driver’s Championship, he’s this close to securing his first world title. All he needs is one more race win to lock it in. But nothing is guaranteed when the top three are scrapping for every point, every lap, every millisecond

So what now?

The final races of the season are about to be pure F1 cinema. Whether you’re deep in the sport or just here for the paddock drama, one thing’s for sure: this championship battle belongs to those who love drama and a good underdog arc.
