5 Albums To Help You Through These Turbulent Times

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marist chapter.

The past couple of weeks can only be described as this: stressful.

Things are rapidly changing, and people have been left isolated, uncertain, and scared.  I’ve found that music can really help calm me during this strange time, and there are some albums that have been particularly comforting.

Here’s the list of albums that have gotten me through the past few weeks:

1) From Under the Cork Tree, Fall Out Boy

This album brings me back to simpler times.  “Dance, Dance” and “Sugar, We’re Goin Down,” are two of my favorite songs by the band, and the intense punk-ness they exhibit boosts my mood drastically on a gloomy quarantine day.

2) Future Nostalgia, Dua Lipa

All I can say, is thank you Dua Lipa.  This album, full of dance worthy bops and anthems could not have come at a better time.  My personal favorite tracks on the album are “Levitating” and “Break My Heart,” and they never fail to put me in a cheerful mood.

3) Odessey and Oracle, The Zombies

This album reminds me of Spring, a season that should be full of optimism and regrowth.  Listening to tracks like “This Will Be Our Year,” and “A Rose For Emily” makes me feel hopeful, which is essential during this difficult time.

4) Cage the Elephant, Cage the Elephant

This album is Spring and Nostalgia combined.  It’s an absolute win and a great list of tracks.  “Ain’t no Rest For The Wicked” will always be a personal favorite of mine.

5) Who Are You Now, Madison Cunningham

The current time we’re in, while scary, also poses as an opportunity to learn more about yourself.  I believe this album has an introspective feel that will get you there. “Something To Believe In” is a song that currently brings me to tears, taking on a whole new meaning to me as I’ve listened over the past couple of weeks.
