What’s your experince here at Manhattan been like so far?

My time at Manhattan has has its ups and downs, but overall, I’ve made great memories at Manhattan and have had wonderful experiences so far. There is a great education program here with amazing professors that have taught me so much and helped me inside and outside the classroom. I am in the national sorority on campus (Sigma Delta Tau), which that I love being apart of. I actually just recently became a “Big” and the process of becoming one was one of the most rewarding things I have done at Manhattan — aside from participating in LOVE Texas. Volunteerng at “Camp Reynal” was one of the most meaningful and profound experiences of my life. I also got the oppurtunity to study abroad in Spain; I saw wonderful sights and made great friends. I can thank Manhattan for all of these experiences.

What made you want to become a teacher?

I had a job as a Saturday Respite Counselor in an autism school during high school. It confirmed that I want to spend every day with children. Being in the program here at Manhattan has taught me to love and appreciate education and pedagogy on another level. Being able to observe teachers and children and teach lessons at public elementary schools near Manhattan has been a great resource for me.

What are your plans for after graduation?

My plan is to be a public school teacher in the five boroughs. I also want to travel to Spain to perfect my Spanish and hopefully work with children in Spain.

What do you like to do on your free time other than the sorority?

I like going to the city with my friends to go shopping, try a new restaurant, or go to a museum.

If you could only eat thing for the rest of your life what would it be?

Chicken parm is my favorite food and Ben and Jerry’s cheescake brownie ice cream. Faves. 10/10 would recommend.
