Believe it or not, it’s been six years since we’ve had new music from Cody Simpson. Although Cody has not released new music in a long time, he’s been very busy. Cody Simpson has been training to be an Olympic Swimmer! Like Troy Bolton, Cody could not give up his love for music and sports.
Before becoming a pop star, Cody Simpson was a competitive swimmer. By starting to pursue his music career at such a young age, he decided to go back to swimming in 2020 after seeing some friends competing in the Rio Olympics in 2016. When seeing his teammates at the Olympics, it made him realize how much he missed swimming.
In 2020, Cody started working with coach Brett Hawkes and managed to secure a spot at the Australian Olympic trials. Unfortunately, the Australian singer was a few seconds short of qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but he did not give up after not qualifying. Cody is currently training every day to qualify for the 2024 Olympics happening in Paris. He is looking forward to the Olympics and making his dream happen. While training for the Olympics, Cody found some time to record his new album! His self-titled album “Cody Simpson” just came out this Friday. The album is a mix of music genres; Cody states that it is full of folk, rock, acoustic, surf & melodic pop tunes. With a new album dropping, fans were excited for a tour to happen. Unfortunately, Cody stated that he could not do a tour at the moment due to his training schedule. His swimming training has him training every single day, and taking a break from it is not a possibility for Cody at the moment. Hopefully, after the Paris Olympics in 2024, Cody will be able to take a break from his intense training and go on tour. Right now, his new album will suffice as we missed having new music from him.
Cody Simpson is living the best of both worlds. He’s a part-time international rockstar and a full-time swimmer. At the end of the day, Cody gets to do the two things he loves the most, and that’s what’s most important.
