5 Shows to Watch this Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LUM chapter.

It’s the time of year again when love is in the air and on screen more than ever. Lots of new shows and long-waited returns are ready to become your new obsession. Here are five shows to watch with your partner or friends this Valentine’s Day!

1. Love is Blind: Season 6

That’s right, the new season of Love is Blind premieres on Valentine’s Day. After a long wait, the beloved Netflix reality dating show is back with our favorite couple, Nick and Vanessa Lachey hosting. The first 6 episodes will be released on the 14th, with the finale coming on March 6th. This season is back to the series’ regular 12 episodes and features a single mom contestant for the first time. Follow along with the new pool of daters for a whirlwind of drama.

2. The Artful Dodger

Set in 1850s Australia, this spin-off of the novel Oliver Twist follows Jack Dawkins, a surgeon by day and thief by night, and Lady Belle, an aspiring surgeon and governor’s daughter, through high-pressure action, on and off the operating table. Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Maia Mitchell portray these two fiery characters and their love-hate relationship with one another. This eight-episode season on Hulu is easy to binge in one sitting and is perfect for period piece lovers.

3. One Day

Based on David Nicholls’ book of the same name, One Day follows two recent college graduates, Dexter and Emma. They meet at a graduation party, and cannot stop thinking about each other after that one day. This Netflix series follows their journey of growing up and finding out what love really looks like to them. This funny and charming series is full of heartwarming moments and sexy accents that will trap you into watching it all at once.

4. XO, Kitty

In case you haven’t heard, To All the Boys I Loved Before and K-dramas have a lovechild named XO, Kitty. This Netflix series follows a girl at a new boarding school in a foreign country on a quest to find true love and herself. Kitty runs into numerous soulmate contenders, which will have you and your partner up in arms about who she should end up with. It is the perfect watch for those in need of a good rom-com and is a great rewatch, as season 2 has been confirmed.

5. Abbott Elementary

If you are looking for laughs and a slow burn, look no further than Abbott Elementary. The Office had Jim and Pam, Brooklyn Nine-Nine had Jake and Amy, and now we have Janine and Gregory, two elementary school teachers who will have you laughing and screaming at all their cute, shared moments. Season 3 is airing currently on ABC and Hulu, and if you have already seen this one, you can go back to season 2 episode 14 (get it?) and watch the special Valentine’s Day episode that is full of love and laughs.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to snuggle up and get into a new show. Whether you are looking for a drama, action, coming-of-age, or comedy show, you can be sure there will always be romance to bring the show and its characters to life.
