Students all across the world will be finishing out 2020’s spring semester with online classes. Many have never taken an online class before and are nervous about their grades. Use these tips and you are sure to be successful in your online classes!

1. Create a designated study space

When doing an online class, it can be hard to focus because you’re not in a classroom surrounded by other people. Make sure to create a study space that is only for doing your schoolwork. This will help you to stay on task and to remember that when you’re in that place, you will only do work.

2. Stay on schedule

Make a schedule and stick with it. Especially with all in-person classes converted to online, it is a good idea to do the work during when class would’ve been. If you have a 10 AM class, do the work for that class at 10 AM. This will help you to get your work done on time.

3. Use your resources

Colleges are offering plenty of resources to help students push through their online classes. Additionally, most professors are reaching out to students and making sure they get the help they need. If you need help, do not be afraid to ask! Do virtual office hours with your professor, online tutoring, and discuss with your classmates.

4. Eliminate distractions

When studying at home, there can be many distractions. Your phone, family members, roommates, or anything that can distract you from your learning. When in your dedicated study space, try to keep these things away. The earlier you finish your homework, the earlier you can talk to your family and friends and relax.

5. Stay organized

Organization is also very important when navigating a class online. Having a planner, a folder on your computer, or any other organizational system can be very helpful when completing your online work.

6. Participate

Most online classes have either a video chat or online discussion board. To make sure your class is as engaging as possible, it is a great idea to interact with your classmates. Many professors even require participation as part of your grade, so make sure to utilize the discussion features!

7. Give yourself a break

Online classes can be very difficult, especially for those who have never taken one before. Stay on task as much as possible, but don’t forget to take breaks and to not be too harsh on yourself. Take study breaks to talk to your friends or browse online. Just make sure to take the right amount of breaks so that you can still complete your work!

If you use these tips, you are sure to be more successful while studying! Now go and conquer your online classes!
