Like many, fall is my favorite time of year. You can’t get much better than the cozy aesthetics, pumpkin patches, holidays, and of course pumpkin spice. Although 2020 and COVID-19 have produced challenges when it comes to celebrating our favorite time of year, there are still plenty of ways to get in your fall feels while staying socially distant.

Pumpkin Patches

Pumpkin patches are a fall activity staple, and this year doesn’t have to be any different. Pumpkin patches around the Louisville area are taking precautions in order to ensure a safe space for all pumpkin pickers. Huber’s Orchard and Winery in Borden, IN is now open for their annual U-Pick pumpkin experience. There are complimentary wagon rides to the field, and you have the opportunity to pick your favorite pumpkin there and let’s be honest, take some cute pictures too!

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular

Last year, I attended the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular in Iroquois park for the first time, and I was not disappointed! Typically, this event is a walk-through experience where you can see thousands of immaculately carved pumpkins. This year, the event is a drive through experience! Take a car load of your friends through the park for only $35. This event starts October 1st and runs through November 1st.

Disney Channel’s Monstober

Bring on the nostalgia with Disney channel classics like Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown. Starting October 1st, Disney Channel’s Monstober begins with Halloween movies every single night. Binge on your favorites all October long. Head over to Disney channel’s website to get the schedule of movies.

Fall Baking

All things pumpkin spice and apple are staple fall flavors. One of my favorite things to do in the fall is go apple picking and then make a homemade apple pie. Trust me, it’s way better than store bought! Linked below is my favorite apple pie recipe and pumpkin spice muffins.

Fall Photo Shoot

One of the best things about fall is that it is the perfect backdrop for any photo. The multi-colored leaves, overcast skies, and crisp weather create perfect conditions for photos. This is an easy fall activity you can do while social distancing. Use a roommate or family member as your photographer and pose with all of the cute pumpkins and leaves available only at this time of year!

Hiking

Another fall bonus is the weather. Upper fifties and low sixties make the weather perfect for sweaters and leggings. These mild temperatures also make for excellent hiking weather. Hiking is an outdoor activity that can still be done amid Covid-19. Cherokee Park Trail and Wild Hyacinth Trail are some of my favorites in the Louisville area. Unwind and appreciate the autumnal weather while social distancing with hiking.

This isn’t an exhaustive list, but it’s a great starting point for all of your fall fun!
