We have many things we can do to help improve your mental health. It’s extremely important to take care of yourself. I know there are multiple ways that you can take charge of your personal health but for me, journaling can be extremely beneficial.

There are many different ways to journal. The most common way people journal is by writing about each day in their lives. At the end of every day, take some time to write about anything and everything you went through during the day. You can write about whatever you choose, whether it’s more based on feelings or facts and whether or not you include certain aspects. It’s a great way to let loose at the end of your day by writing it down and getting all of your feelings down on paper.

Another way to use journaling to help mental health is to write down a list of goals, accomplishments, wants, dislikes, etc. Most people who decide to journal using a note taking form can get great ideas from Pinterest or YouTube. It can give you ideas about what to include as well as creative ways to doodle it onto the page. If you choose the note-taking style, get a journal without lines to make it much easier to use multiple creative forms.

If you’re feeling unsure about journaling and you don’t know where to start, purchase a fill-in journal. These journals can be found anywhere that carries regular journals or notebooks.  Fill-in journals can be different across the board. Some have the same prompts per page while others keep changing. Despite the prompts, they can be a super helpful way to sort through your thoughts.

Journaling is very beneficial because it’s a cathartic way to release all of the feelings that you may have bottled up during the day. It gives you a way to let go and take a breather at the end of the day. It can also be a way to keep track of your mental health. If you’re going through a difficult time, it’s good to know where you came from while also being optimistic about the good days. Being able to journal is very helpful and finding the right way to write your feelings down is so beneficial for mental health.

As a little girl, I spent hours writing stories. Obviously they weren't exactly bestsellers, but it was my passion nevertheless. I would fill up my notebooks with everything I didn't know how to say out loud, and anything I could imagine. Now, as a college student, I'm chasing my dream one word at a time. I'm currently studying English and Marketing, with the intention of becoming an editor.
