Random Acts of Kindness make people’s days. Sometimes their week, month, or more! The benefits are not only for the recipient. You feel better when you are kind to someone else. We often associate random acts of kindness with a costly project, but you can do it for free! Here are some random acts of kindness you can implement into your everyday life…
- Compliment Someone Everyday
I know I always walk around campus loving people’s outfits, hair, etc. Instead of keeping that in your head, let them know what you think. A simple, “I love your sweater” can make the other person stand tall. You should also compliment your friends. A deeper compliment like, “I love your spirit” can go a long way because you know them.
- Hold the Door for Someone
Holding the door is a simple action we can all practice that makes others’ lives easier.
- Practice Positive Affirmations
Being able to compliment yourself can be harder than complimenting someone else. It is harder to believe your own words. However, if you consistently practice self-affirmations you will feel better in the long run. I tried out positive affirmations for a week and I wrote an article about my results.
- Smile at Everyone
Smiling at everyone can be difficult with a mask, but when you can try it out! It makes other people smile back and feel better.
- Thank your Professor
It can be really easy to slip out a quick “Thank You!” to your professor as you exit class. You should always practice this but even go a step further. Say “Thank you, I enjoyed the lecture today” or “Thank you for all your feedback on my assignment”. The personalized Thank You lets them know they are doing their job right!
