How To Maximise Your Bedroom Space

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lancaster chapter.

Nothing is better than living in a room that is nice and cosy, but it’s often difficult to make yourself feel at home if you lack space, but don’t know how to pack light (we’ve all been there). However, there are a few solutions for even the smallest of rooms!

  1. Use the storage space under your bed.

Although not all beds have space underneath, the majority do, and this can save a lot of room. Buy some under the bed storage boxes to easily store your towels and bedding. Argos are selling a set of two for £8.99.

2. Re-arrange your furniture

Sometimes, the way that your furniture is organized may not be making the most of the space that you do have, so it might be worth trying to manoeuvre things around. I roped in one of my housemates to transform my new room and it was surprising how much of a difference it made.

3. Buy a wardrobe organizer

Adding extra shelves into your wardrobe will allow you to keep your clothes neat and tidy. Wilko currently stock them for just £5.

4. Get some over-the-door hooks

Coats and dressing gowns can take up a significant amount of room, but being able to hang them over your door will make them both easier to access and look a lot neater.

5. Opt for space-saving furniture

Ikea is a student’s best friend when it comes to affordable furniture. They offer all kinds of space solutions you wouldn’t have even considered, leaving space for your essentials.
