what will happen when there is nothing left to fill the void inside of you?

there is no love,

there is no light,

and there is no happiness.

nylon strings and piano keys don’t soothe the deafening silence

and neither do the sounds of mother yelling at you

“get along, you have to be productive.”

how can you be productive

when everything feels as though it’s being taken away from you?

you can’t even drown yourself in your nine to five,

that’s gone too.

and your friends?

you’re lucky if you even get a text back.

you know you’re probably annoying them,

since it’s what you do best.

you wonder if maybe you’ll have love back.

you wonder if maybe you’ll have light back.

you wonder if maybe you’ll be happy again someday.

you wonder if this burning in your chest—

and the bubbling in your stomach

and the tsunamis forming behind your tired eyes

and the spider webbed thoughts

will subside.

you wonder

but for now, you are stuck in the void.

an eternal, dark, blank,

nothingness.

and who knows when you’ll return to reality?
