Séance: Eerie Songs for Your Paranormal Needs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KU chapter.

October is undeniably the most magical time of the year. The weather is perfect, the leaves are changing and you finally have an excuse to let your inner supernatural enthusiast glow. Personally, I watch Ghost Hunters all year round, but there’s an influx of creepy shows on Syfy and Destination America around Halloween. My love of graveyards and all things paranormal becomes somewhat… normal in October. It’s my time to shine!

A couple years ago, I wandered into a store and stumbled upon some tarot cards. They were just from a toy store, but I purchased them anyway and gifted them to one of my best friends on a night when my favorite group of girls were getting together to hang out. By coincidence, Claire was wearing a black and white printed tee shirt with eyes and triangles on it, plus a head wrap that made her look extra fortune-teller-y. When I handed her the cards, we immediately shut off all the lights and lit up some candles. The next step, obviously, was to find some mood music.

Let me tell you, 8-tracks are severely lacking in Séance playlists! What’s a girl to listen to when she’s lighting some sage and blessing her home? Can you believe no one else has ever run into this problem?! I was dumbfounded.

Luckily, I did some digging into my own stores of music and found the perfect Séance playlist for your witchy-voodoo activities this upcoming All Hallow’s Eve. I’d like to make it clear that this is not a party playlist; it’s a haunting, eerie playlist for crystal balls and dimmed rooms. It’s for brewing potions and bone readings for divination. You know, the usual. You can listen to the playlist on Spotify by clicking here
