During my graduation party a year and a half ago, one of my mom’s childhood friends gifted me a selfcare basket filled with shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and most notably, Dove Body Wash. This generous gift of self-care led to a subsequent chain-reaction where I decided it would be fun to try every single Dove Body Wash that was available, in order to see which one is the best. And so, I have compiled a list of all of the body washes I have tried since early June 2024:
1. Pamper (Shea Butter and Vanilla): 10/10
This is by far my favorite Dove Body Wash I’ve tried thus far. Whenever I would use this body wash, I was enamored with its luscious scents of Shea Butter and Vanilla that would have me smelling good for the next 24 hours. My skin would also be so smooth and soft that I was in disbelief on how much this body wash affected my skin. If you want a body wash that will always have you smelling delectable, definitely try this body wash.
2. *Limited Edition* (Pineapple and Passionfruit): 4/10
I forget exactly when I bought this body wash, but I remember buying it because it was a limited edition body wash that I might as well try before it won’t be available on the shelves anymore. When I did use this body wash, it was just okay. It was one of those body washes that smell better out of the shower versus how it smelled in the shower plus when you were actually using it to wash. Don’t get me wrong, it smelled very nice, but when I would use it during a shower, I could barely smell it on myself, leaving me very disappointed. I’m thankful that I got to use this, but I would probably never use it again.
3. Reviving (Blue Fig and Orange Blossom): 8.5/10
I believe I tried this body wash this past summer, right when I finished up my freshman year of college. This body wash has to be one of my favorites. I absolutely loved the fruity-scent and I could still smell it on me long after I had showered. Definitely would try this body wash again and highly recommend it to those who like bright, citrusy-scents.
4. Renew (Peony and Rose Oil): 6.5/10
I tried this body wash last summer, and it wasn’t too bad. I was enticed by this body wash in particular due to the fact that it reminds me of my grandma’s peony bushes. Out of the shower, it smells very bright and very floral-y, if that makes sense. But once I used it in the shower, it smelled more like a powdery kind of scent, almost like baby powder. While it made my skin feel nice and fresh, I don’t exactly want to smell like powder all the time. This body wash was so-so, and I’m not so sure I would try it again.
5. Refresh (Cucumber and Green Tea): 7/10
I also tried this body wash this past summer after watching a TikTok video in which a creator said that this body wash specifically was the “perfect scent for summer.” And frankly, I wasn’t disappointed. This body wash has made me feel the cleanest and literally the most refreshed. You know how in spas some people will put cucumbers over their eyes to reduce puffiness? That’s how my skin felt. And I’m not complaining. I would love to try this body wash again, especially during the summer. Whoever that content creator was that said this body wash is perfect for the summertime, they weren’t wrong.
6. Relaxing (Lavender Oil and Chamomile): 7/10
This was the last body wash I tried during the summer before going back to school. Personally, I love lavender. I love lavender tea, I love lavender-infused sweet treats, and I love lavender essential oils. It was a no-brainer that I had to try this body wash. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. I was very soothed after I used this body wash, and afterwards, I smelled like I had just come from a day-spa. Highly recommend this body wash if you need that extra rest and relaxation in your life.
7. *Limited Edition* (Apple Caramel Crumble): 2/10
This was the body wash I tried at the start of this semester. I was intrigued when I came across this body wash since it was considered a new “fall scent.” After purchasing this body wash and using it, however, I was greatly saddened by the lack of scent. Again, it was one of those body washes that smelled okay out of the shower but smelled like nothing/contained very little scent. The more I used this body wash, the more I came to hate it, so much so that I began to dread shower-time, (which I love). I was so happy when I did run out of this body wash and was able to try a new one, (see no. 8). This is a body wash that I would not try again, and I deeply regret spending money to use it.
8. Glow (Mango and Almond Butter): 7.5/10
This is the body wash I used after trying that monstrosity that was the Limited Edition Apple Caramel Crumble body wash. My mother actually gifted me the Mango and Almond Butter-scented body wash; as she had previously tried it and found that she was not a fan. I, however, was a big fan of this body wash. I loved how tropical it smelled, almost like you were on a beach vacation in the middle of the Caribbean. The scent also lasted a long while after I had showered, a factor I greatly appreciated in a good body wash.
9. Rejuvenate (Pomegranate and Hibiscus): 5.5/10
This was a relatively recent body wash that I had finished using a month and a half ago. It has a very floral-like scent, almost like fresh strawberries. I highly enjoyed this at first, but as I was using it, it seemed like the scent wore-off fairly quickly and it wasn’t as potent the more I kept using it. It was easily forgettable, so much so that I forgot the name of the specific kind, up until a helpful google search. Either way, this was okay, but I would prefer to re-try the body washes that are higher-ranked on the list.
10. Uplift (Sakura Blossom and Yuzu): 8.5/10
This is the body wash I literally just finished (like a couple days ago). And let me tell you, it was AMAZING. I absolutely loved the floral scent provided by the Sakura Blossom and I smelled wonderful for a long while post-shower. I would definitely try out this body wash again, and would consider it as one of my new favorites.
