Manifesting the Energy of the Ace of Wands

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kenyon chapter.

Tarot as a Source of Inspiration

If you’re interested in adding a little more magic to your life, check out my last article for some first steps on how you can start using the magic of tarot to assist in self-reflection and self-actualization.

Aside from its ability to help me through the never-ending journey of self-discovery, another thing I love about tarot is its ability to inspire. In a very obvious sense, each card contains a beautiful or intriguing image, and this image has the potential to inspire. Some people will take a single card and meditate on the imagery and meaning, but even simply glancing at a card can spark inspiration.

For better or for worse, tarot can also inspire you to act in a certain way. Drawing The Sun in a daily reading might inspire you to approach your day with more joy and warmth. Drawing The Tower, on the other hand, might have you glancing over your shoulder and confronting everything with anxiety, waiting for the promised upheaval. These are exaggerated examples, and you shouldn’t let a tarot reading influence your decisions much at all.

Nevertheless, the fact remains that tarot can be entirely inspiring, and the card that best embodies this inspiration, in my opinion, is the Ace of Wands.

Interpreting and Manifesting the Energy of the Ace of Wands

I have two tarot decks, but the one I’m most comfortable using is the Wild Unknown Tarot, created by Kim Krans. One thing I love about this deck is its use of color: some cards feature a full rainbow, and others are entirely black and white. For this deck in particular, looking at the colors on the card can tell you a lot about how to read it.

The Ace of Wands demonstrates this excellently. The vibrant colors surround the black and white wand. Yellow quickly fades into orange, which in turn fades into the more dominant red. Flowers are growing out of the wand—it’s a card full of vitality and life. I consider this a card of inspiration and expansive energy. Whether you’re starting a new project or rediscovering an old one, the Ace of Wands will ignite your excitement.

Oftentimes being inspired can seem like something out of our control, and sometimes that is the case. But in many ways, manifesting the energy of the Ace of Wands is within your power. As I said before, this is a vibrant card. Are you living your most vibrant life? What leaves you dissatisfied? What could you change to bring a little more of the expansive, fiery energy of this card into your life?

Take some time and answer these questions, and then try implementing just one change in your life. This change will look different for everyone. Maybe you’ll take a walk in nature every couple of days, maybe you’ll add a few decorations to your room, or maybe you’ll put together an outfit that makes you feel powerful. Whatever you choose, keep it small and manageable. You’ll surprise yourself with how much more inspired you are by the little things once you start paying attention to them.

And, who knows? Maybe you’ll become an inspiration to someone else.
