How to Dress Like Your Favorite Presidential Candidate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kenyon chapter.

With the first few rounds of the Presidential debates finished (and a couple more just around the corner), the race is starting to heat up!  Here at Her Campus Kenyon, we’re paying attention to what the candidates have to offer and what they’re wearing. Why not take inspiration from someone who could soon sit in the White House? Here we offer up outfits inspired by some potential future presidents!

Donald Trump

Yes, you are very rich. You have a brain for business, and your claim to fame comes from the phrase “You’re fired!” You say the word China a lot. You probably own a few toupées. If any of these apply to you, then you must be like Donald Trump. But, you don’t have to have fake hair to emulate his style! Just throw on something gold and flashy and voila: you have just compiled a Trump-inspired outfit!

Golden Goose Sweatshirt, $325, thecorner.com, Brunello Cucinelli sweatpants, $1,080, harrods.com, Saucony sneakers, $211, luisaviaroma.com, Clutch, $89, lorisshoes.com, 14th & Union necklace, $20, nordstromrack.com, Linda Farrow sunglasses, $1,113, boutique1.com

Bernie Sanders

You’ve supported LGBTQ+ issues since before some current college students were born (and even before that). College students generally like you because you promise free tuition. You hail from Vermont and you probably have a maple syrup stash (well, maybe or maybe not; but if I lived there, I would definitely have a maple syrup stash). Bernie Sanders is your name. To dress like Mr. Sanders himself, throw on some rainbow heels (marriage equality!), a blue dress (the Democratic color), and, of course, a Bernie pin. Are you ready to “feel the Bern?”

Topshop dress, $65, topshop.com, Rotita blazer, $35, Rotita.com, Valentino shoes, $1,231, tradesy.com, House of Harlow earrings, $35, neimanmarcus.com, Tory Burch Scarf, $225, toryburch.com, Bernie Sanders pin, $4, cafepress.com

Hillary Clinton

Chances are, you’ve been in the White House for a long time, and you know how the political web that is Washington spins. You can answer questions with acute smarts, and you’re all for women’s rights! Also, you can wear the hell out of a pantsuit. Yup, you must be Hillary. Rock a pantsuit to look exactly like Clinton herself, and add in those blue heels for a subtle hint at your democractic views.

John Lewis blouse, $46, johnlewis.com, Saint Laurent blazer, $2,450, mytheresa.com, Topshop pants, $46, topshop.com, Prada heels, $640, barneys.com, Charlotte Russe earrings, $6, charlotterusse.com

Ben Carson

If you’ve got over 60 honorary degrees, have separated conjoined twins at birth, started your own foundation, and have written tons of books, then you may just be Ben Carson. To look like this pediatric neurosurgeon, a red dress is a must (got to rock that the Republican color!), as is an American flag pin.

Carly Fiorina

Maybe you’ve run a tech company before, and just jumped into the presidential race. If so, you are definitely Carly Fiorina. Take inspiration from what she wore to the Republican debate and sport some pink and some toned-down jewelry like a gold or pearl necklace!
