Dear socks,
You have always been there for me. From cheering me up with fun designs, to being a perfect gift, to simply warming up a cold day, I love you. You are often seen as the underdog in the world of clothing. A last thought for many, you do not get the recognition and appreciation that you deserve. I understand your importance to an outfit, and even to a person. You are one of the absolute best accessories, and here’s why.
You are an incredibly important functional piece of clothing. Without you, many shoes would kill the feet of the people that wear them. But you swoop in with support, providing an extra barrier between the stiff shoes and feet. In addition, you add warmth. I do not want to imagine a world where the feeling of coming home after a long day and putting on a thick pair of fuzzy or wool socks does not exist. Sure, one could curl up in blankets and cozy sweatshirts, but without socks, the feeling would never be complete.
My favorite thing that you contribute to the world of fashion, however, is your style. There are so many variations of sock styles: knitted, embellished, sheer, sparkly, simple, and graphic, not to mention the various cuts of socks, such as no-show, ankle, crew, and knee-high. There are socks for every occasion. Want to wear strappy heels in the winter? Add socks! Want to feel comfy while running errands? Add cozy socks! Want to showcase your personality? Add fun socks! There isn’t an event that does not welcome socks, I would know. As your biggest fan, I have been known to add a fun pair of socks to almost every outfit. I own close to 100 pairs of socks, and my collection keeps growing.
More people need to understand just how much of a great accessory you are, and I can only hope that your fan club continues to grow. You are a friend to all, looking to the future I know that many more will bask in the happiness that you bring, there truly is nothing better than a perfect pair of socks.
