The Happiest 5k on the Planet is Coming to Cleveland

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kent State chapter.

Summer is almost upon us and with that comes the dreaded talk of ‘swimsuit season.’ If you need some motivation to get active, look no further than training for The Color Run! Here is all you need to know about the “Happiest 5k on the Planet” and how to prepare for it!

What: The Color Run is a 5k color race in which bright powder is thrown on participants at each kilometer. This “race” isn’t even a race considering it is not timed, but focuses instead on fun and a community experience.

Where/when: The Color Run is a huge deal—the 2014 tour hosted more than 300 events in more than 50 countries, according to their website. The 2015 tour dates for The Color Run can be found here, but the one closest to KSU is in Cleveland on June 20.

How to prepare: There are so many training options for you to choose from. Below is a really great infographic for all beginners who hope to run this colorful course, or any 5k race for that matter! But don’t forget, The Color Run is all about promoting happiness, healthfulness and individuality, so don’t worry about other people judging you on your running ability or time!

Be sure to sign up for the race with your friends and family for a group rate and a great time!
