How Positive Affirmations Can Reshape Your Mindset

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kennesaw chapter.

“You are what you believe. You are where you are today in your life based on everything you have believed.”- Oprah Winfrey

One of the most important things I’ve learned in my nineteen years is thinking positively can help you view the world differently. And it could potentially change your life! Changing the way you think about and speak of yourself directly affects your life whether you see it or not. Having a positive mindset will help you through college and in various situations in life. Positive affirmations are the key to overcoming negative thinking and recreating a new mindset. You may be thinking, “What is a positive affirmation?” A positive affirmation is a self-affirming thought that can be said out loud or written down. Positive affirmations can range from “I am cute” to “I have the power to manifest great things.” There is no limit to positive affirmations, just as long as they serve their purpose to instill positivity and create a new mindset. Below I’ve listed some of my favorite positive affirmations that you can use daily or for inspiration to create your own.

  • I am powerful.
  • I have the power to overcome difficult situations.
  • I radiate light wherever I go.
  • I am love.
  • I can do anything I set my mind to.
  • I am the architect of my life; I build its foundation and control its contents.
  • I embody strength and walk with grace.
  • Today will be amazing.
  • My spirit is whole and full of joy.
  • I am not defined by my past, but by the brightness of the journey ahead of me.

Each of these affirmations is powerful, whether they are long or short. They have the power to reshape the way you view yourself and the world around you. I hope that these positive affirmations give you the positivity and inspiration you may be missing and that they motivate you to create more personal positive affirmations of your own.
