Whenever a fashionable girl enters a store there is always that certain style or trend that she tends to gravitate to. Whether it’s those preppy pair of jeans on the back shelf or that glitzy frilly top on the mannequin you see when walk in; a girl’s sense of style shines through her fashion choices.

Carrie, a psychology major expecting to graduate in 2015, not only shows off her go-to style in her fashion choices, but also mixes pieces to create an outfit that is to die for.

“I would say I’m very girly and preppy but I do like some edgy styles like anything with studs and black, I wear a lot of black.” says Carrie. She also likes to add pops of color to her outfits.

And her girly yet edgy style, is definitely shown through her BEAUTIFUL floral-printed skirt, which she got at Forever 21. She paired the skirt with a basic long sleeve black top purchased at Target. A very pretty white infinity scarf dresses up the basic long sleeve tee. She also credits the scarf to Target. In mixing florals with black and white pieces, Carrie creates the concept of a girly girl with edge nicely.

Her long black boots finishes off her look. “I got my shoes at DSW,” stated Carrie. Peeping out from under her boots, delicate white knee-high socks soften the edginess of the boots. The knee-highs add a girly touch to her entire outfit. It is also a very clever and unexpected way to add dimension and that warmth that is much needed on a chilly day like this one.

Speaking about where she gets her fashion inspiration Carrie said “I just shop around and get what I like.”

That’s the awesome thing about fashion. There are plenty of ways in which you can mix and match and find an outfit that screams at you. So next time you shop, don’t be afraid to mix the preppy jeans with the glitzy top!
