Conservatory Archives -The Cutest Plant Shop in London

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KCL chapter.

Walking into Conservatory Archives in Hackney was like stepping into a beautifully curated jungle in the midst of east London. Plants of every shape and size imaginable lined the walls as sunlight poured into the shop, and for a moment I nearly forgot where I was.

I ventured to this hidden gem with a friend on a search for plants to brighten up our rooms (university halls are not known for being particularly cheerful). We certainly found what we were looking for. It was almost impossible to choose from amongst the many succulents, cacti, and larger plants surrounding us. Hanging pots with leafy vines spilling over the edges grazed our heads as we finally settled on a few succulents.

In an interview with Toast, owner Jin Ahn explains that her horticulture degree seldom focused on indoor gardening. She was inspired by the creativity of London, and certainly brought a new treasure to its scene.

Hackney has no shortage of other creative secrets, either. After our adventure in succulents, my friend and I discovered a unique clothing store and coffee shops offering mushroom teas. Just a short ride from central London, Conservatory Archives makes for a perfect outing for all your plant needs—and Instagram needs as well! The store’s address is 493-495 Hackney Road, E2 9ED, just a short walk from Bethnal Green tube station.
