With classes being online for this semester, it can often be challenging for us to study remotely without the campus and face-to-face teaching atmosphere. Remote studying for college is extremely new for us and the transition from studying in a university atmosphere to studying at home could be different, however by redoing our remote study space to make it feel like a more productive workspace can surely help us be more productive and have a super comfortable work environment!

Here are a few ways in which you can revamp your remote study space to make yourself feel more productive.

1. Minimal clutter

While it might be hard to keep your desk clean especially when classes start, and assignments start to pile up, having a messy workspace causes a lot of distraction, increases stress and reduces your productivity! Try to ensure all your stuff is neatly laid out on your desk and remove all the things which you would not need during classes to keep your desk super minimal and clutter-free.

2. Add plants

As reported by ScienceDaily, a study done in the UK shows that putting a few plants in your workspace helps increase productivity by 15% and reduce the stress level as well. Plants are proven to have a positive effect on people’s mood which makes the workspace less stressful and more productive! As college students doing online classes, we have to sit at our desks for hours and according to a study done by NASA, having indoor plants in the study space helps provide cleaner air and makes us feel more energetic thus increasing productivity, and as a bonus, it makes your workplace look nice!

3. Good lighting

It is essential to have good lighting, preferably some source of natural light in your remote study area so that you feel more comfortable while studying and there is no strain on your eyes. Make sure to have some amount of natural lighting because it impacts your mood positively and of course having a nice desk lamp will not only make your study space look good, but it will also brighten up your space!

4. Make your space more personal to motivate yourself

Your remote study space is probably the place where you would spend most of your day working. Design your space to make it feel more personal and where you feel the most motivated to work! You can put up pictures of your friends and family on the walls, colourful paintings and motivational quotes to uplift your mood and make you feel more productive!

5.  Scented candles

Studying remotely can be hard, especially since you are not studying with friends, going to libraries, etc. Try to make your remote study space feel more comfortable, cosy and uplifting so that you enjoy being there and working there! There is nothing better than lighting a few of your favourite scented candles to make your remote study space look and feel good!

These are just a few ways in which you can make your remote study space feel more comfortable and productive this semester!
