5 Movies to Binge-Watch this Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KCL chapter.

The holidays are coming and it’s the perfect time to watch few of these holiday classics which will totally put you in the mood for this holiday season if you’re not already in it! There is nothing better than spending a day with your family, sipping on hot chocolate, eating quality streets chocolates and chocolate chips cookies whilst watching these festive movies!

There are plenty of movies to binge watch to get you into the holiday spirit, but these are my personal favourites

1. The Holiday

If you haven’t already seen this romantic comedy, it is definitely a go to movie to bring you in the holiday spirit! If I could just watch one movie, I would probably watch this one! The movie revolves around two people, Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Iris (Kate Winslet) who swap homes for the holiday season and to their surprise find love in their new homes! No matter how many times you’ve watched it before, this movie never fails to disappoint you!

2. Serendipity

This movie is another one of those holiday classics which is perfect to watch on a cold winter night!

Sara Thomas (Kate Beckinsale) and Jonathan Trager (John Cusack) reach for the same glove on a busy night of holiday shopping in New York. The two of them hit it off from the beginning and eventually spend the evening together, however their romance is short lived, and they let fate determine if they’re meant to be together. The movie is everything related to romance and destiny and it truly warms up your heart making it the perfect film to watch!

3. Just Friends

It’s a romantic comedy about Chris (Ryan Reynolds) who’s been in love with his best friend Jamie (Amy Smart) and finally takes the courage to tell her about his feelings and to his horror she tells him that she wants to be ‘just friends.’ Fast-forward to 10 years later and Chris is now involved with a self-obsessed pop star Samantha (Anna Faris) but is actually still in love with Jamie and plans to go back to his hometown and win Jamie’s heart!

This movie is packed with hilarious one liner’s guaranteeing that you’d be laughing throughout the movie!

4. Home Alone 2 – Lost in New York

This is definitely an old one but it for sure is a good one. No holiday season can be complete without watching Home Alone. It is hilarious, sweet and super festive – it ticks all the boxes for the perfect holiday movie!

This sequel of Home Alone is where Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) gets on to the wrong plane and ends up in New York rather than Florida where his family is! The story revolves around Kevin trying to prevent Harry and Marv the two burglars who just escaped from prison from shoplifting a toy store.

5. Frozen

No movie list can be complete without adding a Disney movie. And in this case, I think Frozen is the perfect movie for this holiday season specially because Frozen 2 has also just come out, so it’s the perfect time to re-watch this movie before you watch the sequel!

The movie shows drama, comedy, the strong relationship between two sisters Elsa and Anna, a love story, the cutest snowman and most importantly a happy ending making it the perfect movie to watch this holiday season, leaving you feeling warm and fuzzy!

These are just few movies to binge-watch during the Holidays, but there are many more so grab your hot chocolate, a comfy blanket, treats and binge watch these movies to bring in the holiday spirit!
