How to Take Care of Yourself Post-Halloweekend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

Halloween lasts all weekend long here at JMU, and with homecoming having fallen during that same weekend, you know you’re in for a good time. It’s crazy, it’s hectic and it’s so much fun. However, what we don’t realize is that it’s super draining and we can neglect our health.  Now that the weekend full of parties, friends, tailgates and football is over, it’s time to come back to reality.  Here are a few tips on how to take care of yourself after this crazy weekend.

1. Emergen-C

This stuff saves lives — and all you do is drop it in some water when you get up in the morning.  I’m not quite sure why everyone doesn’t use this stuff but it’s a miracle worker.

2. Take a hot shower

I 10/10 recommend this because (1) you probably are still looking like a hot mess and (2) because it is so relaxing. Go ahead, grab your speaker, blast your music and have fun because it’s time to unwind and wash off the rough weekend you just had.

3. Throw on a face mask

It’s unlikely that you got home late and washed all your Halloween makeup off to the best of your ability. You can #TreatYourself to going out and buying a nice mask, or you could go on Pinterest and find a recipe to make one with stuff lying around your house. I promise, your skin will thank me later.

4. Get organized

I know this isn’t what you may immediately think about taking care of yourself, but I promise that it’s better to get your next few days planned out so you aren’t stressing out the night before you leave for Thanksgiving and your clothes aren’t packed, plus you have two online assignments that are due before you leave.

5. Finally, get a good night’s sleep

You need this more than anything right now. Crawl into bed at 10, turn your phone on “do not disturb” mode and get to sleep. It’ll make class tomorrow a little more bearable.

Enjoy yourself, take care of yourself, and it’ll be the weekend again before you know it.
