Whether Valentine’s day has come or gone, you can always bring more love into your life by decorating your nails with the symbol of love! Having your nails done can make you feel super put together, and colorful nail art is a funky addition to any outfit. So, I’ve created my own nail art look for you to try. So sit back, relax, and get artsy with some Netflix rom-coms on in the background.

Nail Art Tutorial: Queen of Nail Hearts

For this look, you will need four different shades of pinks and purples, clear coat, and a color(s) for the hearts on your nails. For the hearts, you will need a dotting tool or the bottom of a small brush, in addition to a paintbrush (preferably a nail art brush) with thin, long bristles. I got my nail art kit on Amazon, which includes a set of nail art brushes, rhinestones, nail art tape, nail foil, and dotting tools.

Also, if you want your nails to look like long, acrylic nails fresh from the salon, a nice alternative is getting a set of glue-on nails. I also purchased a set of these medium-length, oval shaped false nails from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085KXYW62/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use this glue from Kiss as well, which helps them stay on for about 1-2 weeks, and works for touch ups.

I used an array of V-day themed shades for this look. On my thumb and ring finger is a hot pink, on my pointer and pinky finger is a lilac hue, and on my middle finger is a light pink. Most of my shades are from Essie, but any nail polish will do. Make sure to paint two coats to make sure the color is very opaque. I alternate the colors of the hearts on my nails by keeping the hearts on the thumb and ring finger purple, while the hearts on the rest of my nails are red.

Now, to actually paint the hearts, I pick out a dotting tool to make the superior halves of the hearts, which looks like two dots next to each other on the nail. To make a red heart, I will take my red nail polish and plop little dollops of polish onto some scrap paper with the brush from the nail polish bottle. I press the dotting tool into the puddle of red and place it on my nail, then return the dotting tool to the puddle of red polish to apply the second dot for the heart. Then, I will take my nail art brush and outline a triangle for the bottom portion of the heart, from that same red from the scrap paper. I plop more of the color onto the paper as I go along, so I am never using dried up nail polish. Typically, I bring my nails toward me in a folded position, so I’m drawing the triangle right side up with the brush. I fill it in, and wa-lah! The nail art is finished, and I repeat the process for each nail.

Totally optional, but I also applied some nail rhinestones on a couple of nails on each hand. To do this, I plop some nail glue onto scrap paper, dip the bottom of a nail brush into it, and transfer the glue onto the spot where I want the stone on my nail. The rhinestone is secured between the heads of a tweezer, and I place it onto the area of glue on my nail.

Finally, seal your creation with clear nail polish, and the look is done! If you don’t have a valentine this Valentine’s day, at least you can fall in love with your nails!
