The one recipe that I have used consistently since middle school is my brownie recipe. I stumbled upon it one day when I wanted to contribute to a school bake sale, and it has been tried and true ever since. And, not to brag, but everyone that tries them falls madly in love with this recipe, too. I know you must be wondering: what makes these brownies stand out among hundreds of identical recipes? And I can’t quite put my finger on what it is, but I can confirm that this one is the absolute best!

What You’ll Need:

  • ½ cup of unsalted butter, hot and melted
  • 1 tablespoon of cooking oil
  • 1 cup and 2 tablespoons of superfine granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup of all purpose flour or plain flour
  • ½ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ÂĽ teaspoon of salt

The steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  1. Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking pan with cooking oil spray.
  1. Combine hot melted butter, oil, and sugar together in a medium-sized bowl. Whisk well for about a minute. Add the eggs and vanilla; beat until lighter in color (about another minute).
  1. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until they combine. It’s very important that you do not over beat the batter as this will affect the texture of the brownies!
  1. Pour batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top out evenly.
  1. At this step, I always top mine with chocolate chips, which contributes to the gooey chocolate heavenliness of these brownies. I also love adding walnuts or pecans.
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the center of the brownies in the pan no longer jiggles. If testing with a toothpick, the toothpick should come out dirty for fudge-textured brownies! The brownies will keep baking in the hot pan out of the oven.
  1. Let them cool for a bit and enjoy!
