The First Home Football Game at JCU

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JCU chapter.

Calling all Blue Streaks! Need something to do this weekend? Look no further than your own backyard!

The John Carroll University football team is hosting its first home game of the year this Saturday, Sept. 15, against Otterbein University. The game is “beach” themed, so throw on your sunglasses, swimsuit, and flip flops and prepare for the 80-degree weather! Kickoff starts at 1:30 p.m. at Don Shula Stadium, but there are plenty of other activities to enjoy beforehand.

Gather a few of your friends and participate in a cornhole tournament on the tennis courts. The tournament starts at 10:30 a.m., and be sure to remember to register your team.

Who doesn’t love free food?! Starting at 11 a.m., SUPB is hosting a cookout in front of Campion and Hamlin Hall. Stop by for some free food and beach décor to prepare you for the theme.

Lastly, there is a tailgate on the tennis courts at with performances by the JCU pep band, JCU cheer team, and JCU dance team starting around 12 p.m.

As a personal member of the dance team, I can attest to how hard the team has been practicing for the game. The JCU dance team will be performing a halftime dance choreographed by senior Paige Rost to “On the Floor” by Jennifer Lopez.

Come on out and show your school spirit by supporting our Blue Streaks as they take on the Cardinals for the first time at home this season. There are plenty of activities for everyone’s interest, so let your Blue Streak pride show this weekend by attending all the great events. See you at the beach Streaks!
