Let’s be honest, I talked in one of my past articles about how Halloween is just a bridge to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Christmas is the most cherished thing we have in our family. My grandma absolutely loves it! When I was 12 until I was 20 (when the pandemic started) we went to go black Friday shopping every Thanksgiving evening, just mama and me. This meant the world to me. This is one of the many things that the pandemic stole from me. We are both scared of the pandemic so we will probably not be able to do it again for another year or two at least. I would hope in two years, covid is gone.

Another one of my favorite traditions is the Macy’s parade. The funny thing about it is that we eat “dinner” around noon on Thanksgiving. The parade on TV starts at 9 am and ends at noon. Just as we are about to go sit down and watch it, it is already ending. I always thought that was so funny and I don’t think I have watched it for more than 20 minutes because of this. My grandma literally slaves all day making Thanksgiving dinner and it is always over expectations. I am so grateful I have her and this to look forward to each year.

Recently, in the past couple of years I have been staying at her house over night to help her. I come up, and we prepare everything for the next day. This involves the veggie pizza crust and spread, making the noodles, making desserts, and preparing everything else including the smaller items for the table. I love helping her cook, even since I was little, we always were in the kitchen baking. She is the best baker/cook I know and she does it with no effort. This is a big responsibility and I am happy I can help her as you can see prep is a lot. Thanksgiving is an important holiday for our family. I am so grateful for my grandma and grandpa (who makes the turkey), dinner, and spending time with them.
