Recently I was diagnosed with PCOS and I didn’t know where to go from there with my diet. I kept researching some of the foods that are best to eat and should be replaced by other foods. Here are some of the foods that I found that are best to eat.

Eat it:

  • Non-Starchy Veggies
  • Meat. Fish and eggs
  • Small amounts of low GI carbs
  • Healthy Fats
  • Small amounts of low fructose fruits
  • Probiotic and prebiotic foods

Avoid it:

  • Processed foods
  • Sugar (even natural sugars)
  • Dairy
  • High GI carbs
  • Gluten
  • Soy products and vegetable oils
  • Processed meats

Some substitutions:

White rice to brown rice

White potato to sweet potato

Cereals to oats

Apples to berries

White bread to wholegrain bread

Noodles to zoodles or spaghetti squash

Tortillas to cauliflower tortillas or lettuce wraps

Milk to unsweetened almond or flax milk

Mashed potatoes to cauliflower mash or mashed sweet potatoes

Cheese to yeast flake

Soda to fruit-infused sparkling water

Potato chips to kale chips, sweet potato chips, or Brussel sprout chips

After switching out some of these foods I feel so much better. Not in as much pain which is the big one for me and just feeling healthier.
