Being Sick: As Told by “The Office”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

Being sick really sucks, especially when you are at college. I don’t know about you, but my mom seems to care about my sickness a heck of a lot more when I am at school than when I am at home. Which is nice but it would be nicer if she, or someone was around to take care of me. But alas, you are alone to take care of yourself. Sickness spreads around a college campus so quickly, the inevitability of it is almost comical. And what is more comical than “The Office?” So, here for your viewing pleasure are the stages of sickness as told by “The Office.”

When someone coughs near you and you know it’s coming.

The moment that first symptom hits you.

When one symptom turns to multiple symptoms and you have a hard time getting out of bed without feeling like you’re going to fall over.

The face you make when you see your sickly self in the mirror for the first time.

When your mom won’t let you eat anything but soup because anything else will make you sicker.

The first day you can breathe out of your nose.

When you’re finally feeling better and able to return to the things you like to do.

When your sickness is over and you have to go back to work and school.

Here’s to feeling better! May your sickness last only as long as two seasons of “The Office.”

Cats and Caffeine are key.
