A year ago, I was pretty lost. I had no clue who I was or looking to be in life. I hadn’t even considered going back to school, let alone make any plans to do so. Looking back at everything I’ve done over the past year, I am honestly amazed that I accomplished any of it. I credit this personal growth to my commitment to journaling; which I started in January last year. I sat down and decided I wanted to get to know myself better and answer a journal prompt every week. Some of them made me think more than others, but they’ve all helped me grow and become more comfortable in my skin.

  1. What’s one trait I see in others that I wish I had? Why do I not possess this trait myself?
  2. How do I want others to describe me?

Following through with these weekly prompts helped keep me thinking about how I wanted my life to look and what I needed to do to get there. I found out things about myself that I didn’t know and I was able to push myself to grow as a person this year. No one knows what the future will hold, but I am working to be a better version of myself every day.
