One Direction is Back and Better than Ever

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IU chapter.

As a sophomore in college, I realize that I’m in the minority of people obsessing over One Direction. I’m sorry, but I take no shame in this. They are undeniably flawless; a complete representation of manly perfection. The hair, the accents, those voices – what’s not to love? I’ve been listening to the band’s fourth album, FOUR, on repeat since the day of its release, presenting solid proof of my recent infatuation. These incredibly beautiful boys have had their fair share of number one hits and now this new album takes it to a whole other level.

This album, as opposed to the others, is almost entirely written by the boys. They take a giant step away from stereotypical “teeny-bopper” music. The lyrics are more sophisticated and carry greater substance than earlier songs. FOUR is definitely a bit more racy too (and I’m certainly not complaining).

I don’t think there is a track on the album that I don’t absolutely love. I’m proud to admit that I’ve never skipped a song; each one has an even amount of plays on my iTunes. The album has an equal balance of fast and slow songs that are perfect for any mood. Also, if you listen to “18” and don’t cry hysterically, then I don’t know, I’ll just assume you have no heart.

I’m sure you’ve already noticed, but the guys of One Direction are unbelievably talented. Their vocals on this album really stand out compared to their previous work. If you watched the American Music Awards, you know that they are also incredible live performers. Now that’s a sign of true talent. Watch their AMA performance here.

Have you watched their video for “Steal My Girl?” That was it; that’s when I knew I was in love. It changed me forever. To say I’ve watched it over 100 times would be a huge understatement. And to say that I don’t watch it every night before bed….would be a complete lie.

And don’t even get me started on “Night Changes.” That date with Zayn and that skating with Harry; it’s like a dream come true. My heart is racing just thinking about it.

Has anyone else noticed that their hair has somehow gotten more perfect this year? They’ve upped the style game like 10 notches. I don’t know how they do it; they’ve created their own art form. I mean, c’mon, just look at those dapper locks of greatness!

It certainly doesn’t hurt that these boys are absolutely gorgeous. Bless the people who created these majestic creatures of heaven. I’ve never seen such beauty in my entire life.

Basically, Simon Cowell is a god for starting this angelic phenomenon. Words alone cannot describe how I feel about One Direction because I can only think of so many synonyms for perfection. It seems like the group is going in only “one direction,” and that’s straight to my heart.
