Coffee: Why you should be drinking it?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Inter SG chapter.

If you’re a coffee lover like me, you’ve probably heard multiple times before that it’s really bad for you. Sure, everything in excess can be harmful, but I am here today to tell you all the GOOD things coffee can bring you, based on science of course. Because let’s be honest, we’re not going to stop drinking it!

     1. It can perk you up:

Our nice friend caffeine is always there for us when we need a pick me up, so when you’re feeling like you might pass out of sleepiness or you just feel like you need a little boost, grab yourself a cup of coffee and get on with your day.

     2. It has lots of nutrients:

Coffee beans are packed with vital nutrients, like potassium, pantothenic acid, magnesium, just to name a few. It also has an incredible amount of antioxidants in it. So, yeah, you gotta get your vitamins in.

     3. It may help you burn fat:

This bring us back to that nice friend caffeine. Caffeine is one of the only natural supplement that actually works at burning fat by targeting and boosting your metabolism. You can work on getting into shape while drinking a warm cup of coffee, how cool is that?

     4. It can help you with depression:

Harvard made a study that showed that women who drank coffee multiple coffee cups a day had a 20% lower rate of developing depression. That is quite impressive.

     5. The more coffee you drink, the longer you’ll live:

There are many studies that say that coffee drinkers get sick less often than people who avoid coffee altogether.  Studies show that drinking coffee is associated with a 26% lower risk of death in women and a 20% lower risk of death in men. I mean, it literally helps you live longer, who could say no to that?
